OUR COURSE
Providing Culturally-Responsive Healthcare for LGBTQ+ Individuals
This is a half-day course for anyone employed by a healthcare organization OR a health and wellness practice of any speciality or service.
COURSE PARTICIPANTS WILL BE ABLE TO:
- Distinguish between concepts of binary thinking and spectrum thinking
- Examine various roles and aspects of their own personal identity through the lenses of binary and spectrum thinking
- Illustrate ways in which every human is multi-dimensional and not defined by a single aspect of identity
- Distinguish the key differences between gender, sex, and sexual orientation
- Define terminology and acronyms specific to the LGBTQ+ patient population
- Discuss the broad meaning of best practice as it relates to ANY patient care experience
- Reflect on personal experiences as a patient and give examples of best/worst care received
- Recognize specific scenarios in which LGBTQ+ patients experience discrimination and/or prejudice
- Analyze their role in the LGBTQ+ patient care experience
- Identify job-specific opportunities to bridge the gaps of equitable and affirming care for LGBTQ+ patients

Inclusio takes a humanistic approach to understanding a variety of needs and experiences across the healthcare continuum. Our course combines fundamental concepts and definitions with real-life application.
This course is designed for all personnel in the healthcare setting including all ancillary services.
Our instructors will travel to your facility for live, in-person instruction. Scheduling is flexible and can be customized to the needs of your organization, including weekends and evenings.
Our course can be completed in a half day session, with a maximum of 50 students per session. Multiple sessions can be scheduled to accommodate organizations with more than 50 employees.
This course is designed to help the LGBTQ+ community receive the highest quality of care at your facility.
