COURSE OFFERINGS

COURSE PARTICIPANTS WILL BE ABLE TO:

• Distinguish between concepts of binary thinking and spectrum thinking

• Examine various roles and aspects of their own personal identity through the lenses of binary and spectrum thinking

• Illustrate ways in which every human is multi-dimensional and not defined by a single aspect of identity

• Distinguish the key differences between gender, sex, and sexual orientation

• Define terminology and acronyms specific to the LGBTQ+ patient population

• Discuss the broad meaning of best practice as it relates to ANY patient care experience

• Reflect on personal experiences as a patient and give examples of best/worst care received

• Recognize specific scenarios in which LGBTQ+ patients experience discrimination and/or prejudice

• Analyze their role in the LGBTQ+ patient care experience

• Identify job-specific opportunities to bridge the gaps of equitable and affirming care for LGBTQ+ patients
